Abstract

Introduction: The onset of the pandemic necessitated educational centers to innovate, successfully addressing theoretical instruction. However, higher education institutions like universities, which require practical complements, were unable to continue with the development of these practical activities. The School of Nursing at Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) Tijuana, in collaboration with the Centro de Integración Juvenil A.C Tijuana Soler, harnessed ICTs to facilitate health prevention and promotion, allowing sixth-semester students to proceed with mental health-focused practices. Development: In teams, students carried out weekly awareness campaigns on social media using visual aids and virtual workshops that covered mental health and addiction prevention, including playful workshops for children. Conclusions: This innovative methodology reached over 50,000 individuals, showcasing the potential of social networks and emphasizing the need to integrate digital competencies and ICT management into nursing education, as cornerstones in health promotion and disease prevention.
