Global climate change and greenhouse effect in the XI Region

Abstract

Global change and the greenhouse effect are a worldwide problem that affects not only the existence of life on the planet, but also profound changes in the natural landscape. Climate change translates into meteorological events that are characterized by their violence and sudden change. Studies and observations made in the XI Region of Aysén, Chile, the southernmost area of the planet, lead to considerations about future risks that will affect this territory in the coming decades, among others, the melting of snowdrift tongues, increased river torrential rainfall, high erosion and sedimentation activity in watersheds and high vulnerability in communication systems and habitability of the Region.
