An approach to the first scriptural stage of Nicanor Parra, 1935-1946

Abstract

This article proposes that prior to Nicanor Parra’s creative project of antipoetry, there was another project, which runs between 1935 and 1946. These eleven years make up the first writing stage of Nicanor Parra (1914-2018). This period includes three residences that shape his poetry: the first one in Santiago, then in Chillán and finally his return to the capital (which includes his time in the United States between 1943 and 1944). We conclude that the ninety-six texts published in this period make up a poetic, complex and multiple method, essential to fully understand the work of the anti-poet.
